• the postpartum story project

Every mother has a story.

Some stories include healing and confidence. Others include unexpected challenges, difficult recoveries, unanswered questions, or moments of incredible resilience. Most include a little bit of everything.

The Postpartum Stories Project was created to provide a space where mothers can share their experiences openly and honestly while helping other women feel seen, understood, and less alone in their own journeys.

For many women, the postpartum period can feel isolating. Social media often highlights milestones and happy moments, while the realities of recovery—physical, emotional, and mental—can remain hidden. Yet when mothers hear the stories of others, they often discover something powerful:

"Me too."

Mission

The goal of this project is to collect and share a diverse range of postpartum experiences, including:

  • Vaginal births and cesarean births

  • Easy recoveries and difficult recoveries

  • First-time mothers and experienced mothers

  • Experiences with physical therapy and rehabilitation

  • Challenges with pain, healing, feeding, exercise, sleep, and identity

  • Moments of growth, strength, and unexpected joy

Stories may be shared anonymously and may be edited for length and clarity while preserving each mother's voice.

By sharing your experience, you are helping create a resource that reminds other mothers that there is no single "normal" postpartum journey—and that they are not alone.

Whether your story is one of struggle, triumph, healing, or simply the reality of day-to-day motherhood, it matters.

Thank you for helping build a community where mothers feel heard, supported, and connected.
